Cuba Will Host Iberian-American Congress on Pediatric Surgery

The transplant of organs in children will be one of the topics to be discussed during the 4th Iberian-American Congress on Pediatric Surgery scheduled for later this month, from March 22nd through the 26th, in Havana.

Havana Will Host the 4th Congress on Paediatric Surgery

Rafael Trinchet, President of the Cuban and Iberian-American associations of this medical specialty, told reporters that Cuban experts and nearly 200 delegates from 27 countries will participate in several pre-Congress events, including three courses and workshops.

Trinchet stressed that Cuba has reached a high organizational level in the field of pediatric surgery thanks to the strengthening of computerization, the introduction of video-endoscopic surgery and the high quality in the training of professionals.

Regarding the technique of video-endoscopic surgery, he announced that this technology will be available this year in all Cuban provinces.

The specialist also announced that Cuba is ready to perform its first surgery at fetal level, which is expected to take place later this year. / RHC
