The top wrestler in Holguin province, Katherine Videaux López, of the 63 kilograms, retired from the active sport in ceremony held in the Granma-Cerro Pelado International Tournament of this discipline, taking place in the Sports City of Havana.
After a meritorious trajectory that until now has not been surpassed by any other Cuban wrestler, Videaux was the pioneer in women’s wrestling in her province and one of the starters of this free category in the country.
Khaterine, native of the municipality of Frank País, began in sports as a judoka and was later selected for the fight.
Videaux was gold medalist in Guadalajara-2011 and runner-up in the Pan-American Games Toronto-2015, bronze in Veracruz-2014, national multi-champion and several times medalist in continental tournaments.
She has achieved the best performance of a Cuban wrestler in a World Championship, with her fifth step in Moscow, Russia in 2010. She competed in two other world tournaments. She ranked eighth in the Olympic Games London-2012.
On three occasions, she was the best athlete of the year in individual disciplines of her province.
