The best Holguín boxer Jorge Soto, weighing 81 kilograms, will have his first professional fight on February 28 in Russia, against a boxer from that country.
Soto is a member of the national team, runner-up in the country and gold in a World Cup. He has had close fights against the one in his division in Cuba and two-time Olympic Champion, Harlen López.
Holguín boxing has shown improvement in the last two years, as it closed 2024 with the title of best sports team of the year in this province.
In the last two Playa Girón national championships, this territory placed eighth and fourth, respectively, and aspires to be among the top three in the next edition, which will take place in May, with the stage in Camagüey, according to Aroldis Revé, technical head of boxing in this region.
