Three Silver Medals, Two Bronzes and Baseball Eliminated in Lima

Cuba added three silver and two bronze medals on Tuesday in the Pan American Games Lima-2019, while the baseball team was eliminated, falling 8-6 against Canada.
Modern pentathlon contributed another silver metal with Leydi Laura Moya and Jose Ricardo Figueroa in the mixed relay, while weightlifter Luis Manuel Lauret (more than 109 kilos) and gymnast Yesenia Ferrera placed second in the vaulting horse contest.
On the other hand, Mayvihanet Borges won bronze in C1 200 meters in canoeing, and women's handball team defeated the United States 24-23 in a dramatic bronze medal match.
Of the 10 Antillean boxers who fought in the semifinals, nine will fight for the title, including Osvel Caballero (56 kilos), Andy Cruz (64) and Arlen López (75), while Damián Arce was defeated.
Also, Dainier Peró (more than 91), Erislandy Savón (91), Julio César La Cruz (81), Roniel Iglesias (69), Lázaro Álvarez (60) and Yosbany Veitía (52). The fight for the gold medal will take place on Wednesday.
The men's softball team qualified for the semifinals with 3-0 against Venezuela. Men's beach volleyball duo, composed of Sergio Gonzalez and Luis Reyes, placed fifth after defeating Uruguay 2-0. The girls Leyla Martinez and Maylen Delis ranked fourth, after losing 2-0 to Brazil.
In badminton, the Holguin Taymara Oropesa and Osleni Guerrero continued advancing and entered the quarterfinals in singles and mixed doubles. In the women's double, Oropesa and Yeily M. Ortiz are in the round of 16.
Juan Columbié (109 kilos), also from Holguin, was fourth in weightlifting.
Since Chicago-1959, Cuban baseball did not leave the Pan American Games without medals.
Cuba is seventh by countries in the medal table by accumulating five golds, eight silver and seven bronzes.
