Yurisleidis Lupetey Cobas, one of the all-time star of Cuban judo, arrived to Holguin on the occasion of the International Book Fair to participate in the presentation of the book La única Lupe del tatami cubano (The only Lupe of the Cuban tatami).
This text, written by his coach in the national team, Ronaldo Veitía and Cándido Pérez and edited by Conciencia Ediciones, of the University of Holguín, narrates the victorious and eventful trajectory of the outstanding athlete.
The book was presented at the Sport Museum and the Alex Urquiola Library, by its editors, Elizabeth Aguilar and Querenia Medina, professors of the university of the eastern territory.
In the presentation, Lupetey exchanged with the audience and answered several questions from the press. Yurisleidis said that at the moment she is away from judo as she is dedicated to taking care of her one year old baby Haassan Piquet.
This judo woman- 57 kg, born in the municipality of Moa, was World Champion in Munich-2001 and Olympic bronze medalist in Athens-2004.
In 1998, she won gold medal at the 1st Youth World Games of St. Petersburg, Russia and the World Championship of that category in Cali, Colombia. She also won medals in Pan-American and Central American and Caribbean Games and other international events, in addition to national events.
She had to go to the operating room on several occasions for various injuries and ailments, which did not allow her sport career to be even more victorious. She retired on March 3, 2016, on the occasion of the national judo championships that year.
