Holguín pitcher Michel Cabrera is included in the Cuban team that will participate in the U-23 Baseball Pre-World Cup, to be held in Aguascalientes, Mexico, starting June 10.
Cabrera had a commendable performance as a reliever for the Holguín team in the LXI National Baseball Series. He won 10 games and lost five, saved six games and pitched for an average of 3.87 earned runs allowed and was hit for 294, while his whip was 1.40.
Another Holguín player on the Cuba team is pitcher Pedro Julio Danguillecur, a member of the U-15 team who has just won the ticket for the World Cup in that category in the tournament that takes place in Venezuela.
The Holguín players called to the youth national pre-selection did not travel to Cienfuegos for their training, since the Pan-American tournament of that category was postponed for the coming October, according to Leonardo Paris, provincial commissioner of Baseball.
Four players and two coaches from the current Holguín youth team had been chosen for this pre-selection. Those selected were pitchers Jorge Monzolo and Francis Texidó, outfielder Raúl Pupo and infielder Andy Poll, as well as coaches Luddis Espinosa (Holguín manager) and Alfredo Martínez.
At the end of the current Junior National Championship, the list of the junior national preselection will be updated.
