The delegates of the 14 municipal assemblies of People's Power in Holguín elected deputy Manuel Francisco Hernández Aguilera as governor, and Yunia Pérez Hernández as deputy governor, a responsibility that they will carry out for a period of five years.

In correspondence with its research tradition, the province of Holguín won two National Awards from the Cuban Academy of Science (ACC) this year, both of high scientific and social impact, which are based on the results of studies implemented in this eastern territory.

The Cuban Ministry of the Interior (MININT) informs that as a result of cooperation actions between the Cuban Border Guard Troops and the U.S. Coast Guard, 340.7 kilograms of marihuana were seized during the interception of an international drug trafficking operation.
