Cooperation projects between Kuwait and Cuba benefit Holguín

The Ambassador of Kuwait to Cuba, Adel Mubarak Farjan Al-Adgham, highlighted the strengthening of his country's relations with this Caribbean state, through the development of cooperation projects in various areas.
Al-Adgham, who highlighted the friendly ties between both nations, made these statements within the framework of an activity for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.
In the meeting, which was attended by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Josefina Vidal, the president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, Antonio Rodríguez, the Arab country's support for the island in the hydraulic sector it was recognized.
In this regard, he indicated that the cooperation of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (Kfead) began in 2003 with the execution of works in the aforementioned field in the provinces of Santiago de Cuba, Holguín and Havana.
The official explained that through this important mechanism, five loans were granted with a total amount of more than 102 million dollars, of which a figure greater than 86 million, equivalent to 84.7 percent, has been executed to date.
With the financial contribution of Kfead, a study for the comprehensive solution to the flooding on the Malecón in Havana is satisfactorily implemented, said Rodríguez.
He also highlighted that through soft loans, projects have already been executed for the rehabilitation of water supply systems in Santiago de Cuba and the city of Holguín.
With the contribution of financial credits, Havana's aqueduct and sewage networks were also rehabilitated in phase one, among other achievements, which contributes to improve the water supply to the population.
The present and future Kfead collaboration also extends to the construction of more water tanks, and the rehabilitation of supply networks and water treatment plants.
The two states promote collaboration projects in fields such as health, biotechnology, water resources, environment, investment protection and culture. / With information from Prensa Latina
