Holguín expands publication of archeological articles

Specialists from the Eastern Central Department of Archeology, based in the province of Holguín, expand the publication of scientific articles, as part of the actions of socialization of the results in this specialty, one of the priorities of Cuban science.
 
Betty Juan Almanza, communication specialist of that entity, said to the Cuban News Agency that so far this year more than 200 articles, pamphlets and books have been published, both in Cuban and foreign magazines, referring to the achievements of that science on the Caribbean island.

She explained that the publications focus on the main lines of research of the scientific center, which include studies of physical and funeral anthropology of the aboriginal population, archaeozoology, paleobotany, Cuban and Caribbean economic and historical archeology, among others.

Almanza meant that the institution also contributes to the protection of local museum resources, through community activities aimed mainly at the presentation of catalogs and multimedia obtained from research projects.

The Department, attached to the Center for Research and Environmental Services of Holguín, also promotes collaboration agreements with foreign universities for the analysis of samples and objects found in excavations, limited in the Caribbean island due to the intensification of the US blockade on the against Cuba.

This scientific entity was created in 1977 with the aim of directing, promoting and enhancing scientific activity in Cuba and the Caribbean, in addition to offering scientific-technical services and archaeological replicas.
