The 32nd Ibero-American Culture Festival commemorated here the Christopher Columbus's landing on Cayo Bariay and announced its 33rd edition for 2027, with delegates from nine nations.
The Bariay National Monument Park hosted the "Two Worlds" show, which commemorated the encounter between European and American roots that took place on October 28, 1492.
The event served as the venue for the official launch of the call for the next edition of the event in 2027, a prelude to a program that decentralizes artistic offerings to various urban and community venues in eastern Cuba.
The festival focuses on the development of arts education and encompasses a wide range of aesthetic expressions. Among the day's highlights was the world premiere of the choreography "Shadows," performed by the CODANZA Company, in the Plaza de Iberoamérica, along with exhibitions of emerging talent at the Raúl Gómez García School of Art Instructors.
On the theoretical and scientific events, the festival was preceded by the closing of the Ibero-American Congress of Thought, where the Guarch Delmonte Prize was awarded to researcher Nuvia Artigas for her study on scientific racism.
The activities continue with folk music gatherings, film screenings, and folkloric performances aimed at strengthening the integration of the peoples of the Global South through art and emancipatory thought. (Source: Prensa Latina)
