The Turquino canning factory in the province of Holguín, one of the six existing in the east of the Island, shows favorable results in the different economic indicators and the delivery of physical productions promoted throughout the year, reaching until the end of August around 80 percent of the total plan proposed for 2020.
It general director Ramón Rodríguez, told ACN that the facility bases its work on three main stages of processing of fruits and vegetables, of which it has already surpassed that of tomato and mango, doubling the production of 2019, while now it is getting ready to the guava season to start in October.
Coupled with these processes the industry works in the production of canned vegetables, papaw derivatives, seasoning and dry products such as peanuts and corn.
Among the products promoted by the industry, guava and mango derivatives stand out for their level of acceptance, in addition to the production of mayonnaise, as the only company dedicated to the production of this marinade in the eastern region of the country.
The physical productions of Turquino to date amount to 152 percent of the total, where their workers also comply with 105 the agreements planned for the national market in foreign currency, with offers destined for the tourism sector in the eastern territory.
So far this year the industry has processed around 4,700 tons of agricultural products, which are mostly aimed at social consumption and the commercial and gastronomy entities of Holguín and Las Tunas.
The Turquino's portfolio includes more than 100 varieties of products, of which 46 are already certified by the National Food Institute. The factory also has a laboratory with modern technology to analyze the feasibility and quality of each of the assortments processed.
The entity has the association of 57 mini-agricultural industries throughout the eastern province, which contribute to the processing of fruit pulp and some vegetables, used for the production of jams, games, pickles and seasonings.
This factory, located in the San Field district of the capital of Holguín is operating since 1948 and despite the time of exploitation, the processing lines maintain their industrial potential after the investments and systematic maintenance carried out to the different areas, said its director Ramón Rodríguez.
