Holguin University Opens Degree in Veterinary Medicine

Among the novelties of the University of Holguin (UHo) for the current school year is the opening of the Veterinary Medicine degree in the modality of course by encounters.
With the opening of this career, which belongs to the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, there are 51 offered in the center of higher studies.
According to the dean of this faculty, Dr.Sc. Raymundo Escobar Lorenzo, for many years there was the need for veterinary doctors in the territory and those interested should study at the University of Granma.
The Provincial Delegation of Agriculture has requested the opening of the career but it was not until the current school year that the main conditions were created.
Escobar Lorenzo explained that the specialty will open with an enrollment of about 140 students, most of them workers belonging to the agricultural entities, while the number of those incorporated in subsequent courses is expected to increase.
Although it belongs to the study plan E, it will last six years due to the necessary requirements for the training of these professionals.
This career currently has a faculty formed by professors from the university and a group of collaborators from the different entities belonging to diagnostic laboratories and Veterinary Medicine and the delegation of Agriculture, who are doctors with wide experience in the diagnosis of different zoonotic diseases that today affect the province.
The opening of this career responds to the demands of the territory and it means a commitment for subsequent courses to open it in daytime modality.
