UHo Contributes to the Implementation of Life Task in Holguin

The University of Holguin (UHo) has among its priorities the environmental protection, with the implementation of the Life Task plan of the Cuban State conceived to face the Climate Change in the island.
The center of higher studies in the province has among its tasks to manage knowledge and innovation to favor the natural environment since the completion of its multiple processes, contributing to sustainable social economic development and the preparation of qualified workforce in the subject, said Miguel Antonio Cisneros, head of the Environmental Management group at the University.
The specialist said that among the specific tasks approved by the Ministry of Science Technology and Environment (Citma), the UHo participates in five of them related to "the assurance of the availability and efficient use of water", "the realization and update of the studies before intense rains, strong winds, drought and earthquakes "; "the implementation of adaptation and mitigation measures to Climate Change", "the increase of risk perception for the confrontation to Climate Change", as well as "the management of participation in international projects".
Particularly "they have proposed to update the curriculum related to the subject and have also created student scientific groups whose members guide the management of science, technology and innovation in terms of solving the problems affecting the environment, "said Cisneros.
According to Cisneros, these actions not only have an effect on the classroom, but also in the entire territory with the implementation of extension projects, such as the sanitation of the coastal coastline of the Frank País municipality, which includes the collection of waste in the sand, reforestation with species native to the area and the elimination of invasive varieties, among others. / Radio Angulo
