Cuba is likely to become the first country in the world to have its entire population vaccinated by the end of 2021 against Covid-19 with its own vaccines, said on Thursday the president of BioCubaFarma, Eduardo Martinez.
The numbers of confirmed and suspected patients admitted, 370 and 305, respectively, are the highest reported in Holguín since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, as by the end of Monday the eastern territory added 39 more cases, including one imported case.
With three doses Cuba's Covid-19 vaccine candidate, Abdala, showed 92,28 percent efficacy in Phase III trial, its developers reported on Monday.
"The high transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Holguín may decrease, from achieving a reduction in the movement of people in the streets and only have the necessary transportation means traveling, so the cooperation of all is essential," said the Dr. Katia María Ochoa, director of Health in the eastern territory.
Cuba's Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, reiterated on Tuesday the call to comply with discipline the protocols established to face the Covid-19 pandemic, given the increase in the number of infections.
