Cuba will celebrate the 100th birthday of the US composer, musician and orchestra conductor Leonard Bernstein with a selection of his most renowned musical works at Havana's Marti Theater, organizers said here.

 

The province of Holguín hosts from November 19 to 24 the 9th ninth meeting of Concert Bands from the territory, with headquarters at the Calixto García Park and the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) in the eastern Cuban city.

 

The Septeto Santiaguero, from Cuba, and the Dominican José Alberto ''el Canario'' today hold the Latin Grammy Award for Best Traditional Tropical Album, category in which the Cuban was also nominated Omara Portuondo.

 

Mayarí, the largest municipality in Holguín, has a comprehensive development program. There, the son music is exclusively performed in the national festival of the genre held each year. It also boasts the Los Planos Inclinados (Inclined Planes), a marvel of iron engineering and the Salto del Guayabo, one of its natural attractions.
