Holguín calls for the 25th edition of Celestino Short Story Prize

The Ediciones La Luz publishing house of the Hermanos Saíz Asociación (AHS) and its Literature section in Holguín call for the 25th Celestino Short Story Prize to take place from June 10 to 15 this year.


All Cuban writers residents in the country, members or not of the AHS, up to 35 years of age may participate in the contest, which will consist of an unpublished notebook with a minimum length of 45 pages and a maximum of 70.

The works will be received until May 20, 2024 and the jury's decision will be announced in Abrirse las Constelaciones event on June 14, in the final sessions of this 25th edition of the Contest.

The prize will consist of the delivery of an accrediting diploma, 10 thousand Cuban pesos and the publication of the printed book and e-book by Ediciones La Luz, with the payment of the respective copyright.

El premio consistirá en la entrega de un diploma acreditativo, 10 mil pesos cubanos y la publicación del libro impreso y e-book a cargo de Ediciones La Luz, con el pago del respectivo derecho de autor. El jurado estará integrado por prestigiosas figuras de las letras cubanas. The jury will be made up of prestigious figures of Cuban literature.

This year’s edition also calls for the poster exhibition "My name is Celestino" to celebrate its 25 anniversary. Those interested can obtain more information on the Facebook profile of the publishing house.

With the slogan "Celestino alza el vuelo" (Celestino takes flight), the contest will be dedicated to the 25 years of "Flora y el Ángel", a story with which Rubén Rodríguez González won the first edition, as well as to the 40th anniversary of the death of Julio Cortázar and the 110th anniversary of Onelio Jorge Cardoso.
