The consultation on the draft of the new Labor Code began in Holguín, extending until November 30 to gather opinions from workers across all sectors.
The Legal Services Company (ASEL) was the pilot site for this process, with the participation of union leaders and worker representatives.
The draft expands rights and guarantees, aligning with the Family Code, and proposes that the Ministry of Public Health validate unpaid leave licenses for caregivers.
In the province, 2,790 meetings will be held with over 162,000 workers, and 6,900 leaflets were distributed to facilitate contributions and questions.
This reform, resulting from Cuba’s new economic model and the 2019 Constitution, aims to create comprehensive legislation that consolidates existing rights and introduces new ones, such as greater access to justice, new forms of employment, and regulation of teleworking.
The draft is organized into four books, including principles like dignified work, elimination of temporary contracts for permanent positions, and protections for youth, women, and vulnerable groups.
