The Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in Holguín and the Organizing Committee of the Romerías de Mayo are calling for the Congress on Thought and Memoria Nuestra Award, which will take place from May 3 to 7, 2026, as part of the World Festival of Artistic Youth.

This event targets young Cuban researchers up to 35 years of age, who can participate by submitting their works until January 31, 2026, through the official email address: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The call emphasizes the commitment to Cuban cultural policy and dedicates this edition of Memoria Nuestra to the 40th anniversary of the AHS, the 50th anniversary of the Provincial Museum of Holguín "La Periquera," and to Fidel Castro's cultural thought, highlighting his significant contributions and fraternal relationship with the AHS. The occasion is special because 2026 marks the centenary of Fidel Castro's birth, an influential figure in Cuban cultural processes.

Main topics for research include regional cultures and identity, the impact of the AHS and Fidel Castro's thought on the creation and promotion of young art, as well as studies on the life and work of Luis and Sergio Saíz Montes de Oca. The call also encourages research on community experiences that support the development, recovery, and preservation of local and regional traditions, and proposes initiatives providing alternatives to globalization

The event will include conferences, discussion panels, and participation from international guests, creating excellent opportunities for academic and cultural exchange among youth from various regions of the world. These activities are essential for strengthening identity, critical reflection, and the promotion of cultural diversity.
