Minister of Culture dialogues on cultural policy in Holguín

Cultural work in communities, social communication and its impact on networks as well as the challenges of electronic commerce for the development and dissemination of Cuban culture were the main topics addressed on Tuesday by the Cuban Minister of Culture Alpidio Alonso Grau, as part of his official visit to the province of Holguín.
Alonso Grau met with representatives of cultural institutions, creators and members of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in Holguín, to whom he expressed the importance of the work carried out in these almost two years of pandemic in which there was not a paralysis of culture but a change to digital platforms, which must be maintained and improved.
He emphasized the commitment and revolutionary character of the Culture sector in the symbolic war that we live today and pointed out the role of workers and artists in the formation of consensus through the creation of a greater number of spaces for debate and sincere dialogue.
The Minister had the opportunity to exchange with Oreste Saavedra, director of the Holguín Symphony Orchestra, who presented him with the architectural project aimed at opening the concert hall for the people of Holguín in the building that was once occupied by the Association of Combatants, which will also host various small-format musical projects.
The head of Culture also visited the Casa de la Victrola project, inaugurated in August 2019, which constitutes one of the few museums of the world with the peculiarity that all its pieces work and with a musical record of more than a thousand original recordings in formats that include the recordings made on the old cylinders, which were the first supports to record and reproduce the human voice.
