Two wards at the Lucía Íñiguez Landín Clinical-Surgical Hospital in Holguín will resume services after undergoing repairs aimed at improving comfort and facility conditions.
The investment, which exceeds 60 million pesos, seeks to enhance patient care amid the country’s ongoing energy and resource crisis.
The upgraded areas include neurosurgery and cerebrovascular specialties, with the latter also receiving restored medical equipment. The central surgical unit was also included, having gone 27 years without maintenance, and its furnishings will be gradually replaced.
According to the hospital’s director, the inpatient wards are in the final stage of completion and are expected to reopen next week. At the same time, other improvements are underway, such as repairing the electrical system of the neurophysiology laboratory and adapting spaces for various medical specialties.
These efforts are part of a broader investment program in Cuba’s public health system, which covers multiple institutions and prioritizes vulnerable, rural, and hard-to-reach áreas.
Despite economic and political challenges, essential free programs such as Maternal and Child Care and the Family Doctor and Nurse Program continue to be maintained. (Source: ACN)
