Holguín Boosts Renovation of Cultural Institutions

Backed by investments of some 10 million pesos, the culture sector in the province of Holguin has contributed so far this year to the renovation of 20 facilities dedicated to recreation and other cultural activities in the eastern Cuban province.
Renovation works carried out included the improvement of infrastructures of museums, movie theaters, bookstores and libraries, both in urban and mountainous areas of the Turquino Plan and of rural communities in the different municipalities of the territory.
Faustino Fonseca, provincial director of Culture, said that the amount allocated for 2017 in the different areas of the sector will make possible to conclude, before the end of the year, another 19 constructive actions in benefit of cultural-recreational services offered to the population.
According to Fonseca, the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts, the Lyric Theater Rodrigo Pratts, the Patio del Bolero and the museums Casa Natal de Calixto García, in the city of Holguín, Chorro de Maíta, in Banes, and Decorative Arts in Gibara, are among the cultural institutions undergoing renovation works.
The investment project also includes the improvement of the José María Ochoa Conservatory of Music and the Frexes and Hanoi movie theaters, located in the municipalities of Holguín and Banes, respectively, whose renovation actions will conclude in 2018. / ACN
