Army Corps General Ramón Espinosa Martín, Deputy Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, FAR, was interested in Gibara for the progress of recovery tasks after the passage of Hurricane Irma through this territory of eastern Cuba last September.
Accompanied by Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and its first secretary in Holguín, as well as the political and governmental authorities of the municipality of Gibara, Espinosa Martín visited the nine homes under construction in the former school Ovidio Torres, where he held a meeting with the builders.
The head of the eastern strategic region, also knew that so far more than 700 homes have been recovered. He also assessed the work carried out in the Gibara waterfront and the new road from Las Caobas to Caletones beach, which exceeds five kilometers.
The Hero of the Republic of Cuba visited the Rio de Mares restaurant that welcomes a large number of visitors for the natural beauty of the place and its good comfort. Finally, he congratulated the people of Gibara and acknowledged that they are advancing in a group of constructive actions in what is also known as Villa Blanca.
Gibara is one of the tourist destinations in the province of Holguín.
