Holguín to Expand Computerization Services in Health Facilities

The health system in the province of Holguín is gradually advancing in the computerization of services, despite the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States to the island for more than half a century.
The main lines of work in this regard for the current year are aimed at promoting the Internet service in all medical institutions, including primary and secondary care, told the Cuban News Agency Eduardo Cuello Martínez, head of the IT and communications department from the Provincial Health Directorate.
The specialist noted that the websites of the Lucía Íñiguez Landín and Vladimir Ilich Lenin hospitals, both located in the city of Holguín and recognized as important public health entities in the eastern region of the country, should come into operation soon.
Once the institutional web pages have been implemented, the population, through the different access routes to the network, will be able to obtain information about the services provided and, in addition, establish a communication channel among professionals of the sector.
According to Cuello, another of the projections in that area for 2019 will be the unification of the WiFi system and the interconnection of the provincial health directorate with the three hospitals of the city.
The department of informatics and communications of the health sector in Holguín contributed during 2018 to consolidate important projects in these services such as the implementation of digital radiography for the benefit of patients.
The results in this area of communications also included the update of the Imagine software, which allows the images made by the tomograph to be viewed with a high resolution. / ACN
