With the premise that rural women are the heart of agriculture, the driving force of traditions, and the pillar of families, Holguín held the provincial event for World Rural Women's and Food´s Day.

The event, which was attended by Joel Queipo Ruiz, First Secretary of the Party in the province, and other political and government authorities in the territory, served to recognize the fundamental role of rural women in community development.

The ANAP Provincial Bureau recognized several cooperative members who have distinguished themselves in food production and in the activities carried out by the organization.

In his speech, Michel Torres Suárez, provincial president of ANAP, emphasized that the history of Cuban rural women is also the history of the Revolution, recalling their role from the Sierra Maestra to the present day.

“Every hectare cultivated, every seed planted by a woman, is an act of love and resistance,” affirmed Torres Suárez, who also reaffirmed the strongest condemnation of the criminal economic blockade imposed by the U.S. government on the island, which affects food production in the country.

He described young rural women as a source of strength, commitment, and hope, and urged them to continue working to strengthen agricultural production. “Your effort is essential, your voice is necessary, and your example is a light for future generations,” he concluded.
