Holguin Gets Ready for Sugar Harvest

After completing the process of diagnosis and maintenance, the five sugar mills of the province of Holguin are ready to start the harvest in November, with the guarantee of sugarcane planted and skilled workforce.
According to Orlando Teruel, head of Mechanization and Transportation of the Sugar Company (Azcuba) in Holguin, the industry is carrying out the repair and preparation of the means for work, both in the sugarcane field and in the industry.

Likewise, he stated that "among the main affectations, stands out the UEB Urbano Noris sugar mill with the largest number of equipment in production, which for its conditions will require greater efforts. As for repairs, the supplies already requested must arrive.”

Ramón Batista, specialist of Harvest at the aforementioned industry, highlighted among the actions carried out here the recovery of sugarcane roads, which were affected by the intense rains and the humidity of the soils of the region.

For her part, Yohania Merencio, head of the Control and Analysis of Azcuba, said that the objective is to double the volumes committed in the last contest; no less than 2 million tons of the raw material will be ground in the coming harvest, for which the current plantations have irrigation guarantees ".
