Major Renovation Works at Holguín Educational Centers

Photo: ACNThe educational sector in the province of Holguín is carrying out a wide-ranging investment and maintenance program this year in some 90 school centers throughout the northeastern territory.
Reynaldo Pupo, head of the department of investments in the provincial directorate of Education, told the Cuban News Agency that major works are carried out in the Julián Agüero school in the municipality of Sagua de Tánamo, with the modification of the kitchen-diner service.
After the investment, the center will become the first semi-boarding school located in the mountainous community for the benefit of working mothers in the region.
He added that the investment program also includes the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes school with danger of flooding in the municipality of Urbano Noris.
Regarding the repair and maintenance plan, Pupo explained that currently some 50 institutions of the 89 planned for this year are undergoing renovation works, including elementary schools, secondary, pre-university and technical schools, as well as day care centers.
He pointed out that main tasks are concentrated in the repair of roofs, replacement of electrical and plumbing networks and change of carpentry, the latter the biggest limitation of this year for the completion of works.
