Tourist facilities in the province of Holguín strengthen epidemiological vigilance and compliance with the preventive protocol, given the appearance of the Omicron strain in the world, of which Cuba registered the first positive case of this variant the previous week, detected in the western region of the country.
Carlos Álvarez, a commercial from this branch in the territory, assured the ACN that since the opening of services to the foreign market in October and to the national market in November, measures have been implemented to maintain compliance with the protocolsestablished to avoid the expansion of the pandemic in each of its facilities, with the support of public health specialists 24 hours a day.
According to Álvarez, the hotel facilites have all the conditions required to offer a safe and hygienic service to customers and guarantee the enjoyment of vacations.
Since the resumption of services to the international market, few positive cases of this disease have been reported, equivalent to around one percent of the total number of guests received, with whom the pertinent measures have been adopted to avoid the occurrence of an epidemiological event within the facility, he explained.
For the care of foreigners infected with this virus, it was prepared the Hotel Villa El Bosque of the Islazul chain, located in the Pedro Días Cuello neighborhood of the city of Holguín, which has the necessary conditions to operate as a field hospital.
After the appearance of this new variant, he pointed out, it is important to maintain epidemiological and be careful in the detection process, since the characteristic symptoms differ from the rest of the other variants.
To ensure the health of workers in the sector, they were provided with the necessary resources for their protection and disinfection, as well as the guarantee of the three doses of the Cuban vaccine against COVID-19 to the entire group.
Cuba has also strengthened the measures aimed at controlling international travelers in the event of the appearance of the Omicron strain, where people from the countries where this variant has been detected must have a follow-up of the antigen test and carry out a mandatory seven-day quarantine in the facility designated for this purpose.
