The Cuban president also learned about the current production in about 737.73 hectares planted with crops such as viands, vegetables, fruit trees and grains and stressed the need to prioritize the production of beans and other legumes, managing to reduce the import of these staple foods to the country.

In his visit, he also knew about the productions achieved by the brothers José Miguel and José Ramón Torres Leyva, who have cultivated about 40 hectares in the Agricultural Production Cooperative Augusto César Sandino belonging to this pole, who explained the cultivation process in this area, where they have plantations of cassava, sweet potato and beans based on the rainfed technique, since the irrigation systems for larger crops are still inefficient.

Díaz-Canel also insisted on the need to improve the contracting and marketing systems, establishing better job offers and optimal products for sale to the population.
