The health institutions in the province of Holguín extends care protocols to patients recovered from COVID-19 that exceed 49,700 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, as part of programs to improve the quality of life of these people.
For this purpose, consultations are available in community polyclinics, where specialists provide follow-up of patients every six months, according to age, underlying pathologies and evolution during the disease, according to a report by the Provincial Directorate of Public Health.
It specifies that experts in internal medicine, cardiology, psychology and rehabilitation, among others, are included, who carry out an evaluation adapted to each case, according to the sequelae presented by the patients benefiting from the service and through the health areas.
The province also has areas for the surveillance of risk suspects in the three provincial hospitals and an area of the Calixto García Polytechnic Institute, of the head city, where health protocols are carried out on these patients, as part of the reordering of services in the new normal stage, Dr. Jesús Oro, director of the latter facility, told the ACN.
Likewise, the emergency services, external consultation and diagnostic tests are gradually reincorporated depending on the epidemiological conditions of each territory, parallel to the advance of anti-COVID-19 vaccination and the application of booster doses in vulnerable groups.
In the last 15 days, Holguín reported more than 700 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with a wide dispersion in the 14 municipalities and the greatest epidemiological complexity in Banes, Báguano, Rafael Freyre and Antilla, for which the protocols of performance and hospital capacities for the control of the new coronavirus are improved.
