Holguín health system guarantees hospital capacities faced with COVID-19

The health system in Holguín guarantees the hospital capacities for the admission of suspected and positive patients to COVID-19, according to the new health protocols for confronting the new coronavirus in the country.
The new health protocols include home admission of suspected and contacts of confirmed cases, taking into account the conditions in the home, the age of the patients and associated comorbidities, including non-communicable chronic diseases such as arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus.
The Pedro Díaz Cuello School for Sports Initiation (EIDE), the Villas Garbo and El Cocal, the headquarters of the University of Holguín Manuel Fajardo, the Higher Metallurgical Mining Institute of Moa, are among the institutions prepared for admission in the eastern territory, according to information provided by the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology.
According to the public health institution, the Fermín Valdés Domínguez military hospital and the clinical-surgical hospital Lucía Íñiguez also increase the existing capacities in intensive therapies, which now exceed 50 beds for follow-up of seriously ill patients.
Alcides Lazo, official of the Provincial Directorate of Public Health, reiterated to the Cuban News Agency the importance of maintaining biosecurity measures in homes and strictly complying with the provisions established for the management of people with a positive test, isolated in homes.
On July, 7,285 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the eastern territory, with an incidence rate of more than 713 for every 100,000 inhabitants, of which more than 1,200 remain positive.
