The creation of the Club Martiano of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in the province of Holguín, is among the initiatives to promote the work of the National Hero José Martí in the history teaching programs among adolescents and young people of this eastern Cuban territory.

Leonardo Nieves, promoter of the initiative, said to the Cuban News Agency that this group promotes José Martí’s work and its validity for CITMA and the rescue of cultural values in current times, especially those related to the union from science to the arts, social development, technological innovation and environmental protection.

He indicated that the project also contributes to encouraging research related to Martí's writings and the preservation of his printed texts, with actions to promote reading.

Even in the midst of the epidemiological contingency generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the group remains active in digital platforms and social networks, the specialist pointed out.

It also stands out the edition of a digital bulletin to disseminate the work of José Martí among academics, specialists, historians, researchers and educational centers, among others, Nieves said.

The Club Martiano was founded on May 19, 2016 and is made up by workers of CITMA and other entities, as part of the programs of that ministry in the preservation of historical memory, one of the priorities of the current Cuban society.
