danza iberica 2Mercedes Lores, specialist of this institution, said that the inclusion in the repertoire of typical dances from various regions of Spain such as Cantabria, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, are among the main actions carried out here.

Lores said that dancers use accessories and jewelry typical of the peninsula, including pulses, handkerchiefs, earrings, necklaces and native instruments such as guitar and tambourine.

These initiatives allow the socialization of these customs among the younger generations and also extend to the main crops introduced from Europe and the production of artisanal wines, one of the best known traditions in the eastern territory, she said.

The cultural heritage conservation program in Holguin also includes oral narrative, typical Haitian songs and dances, traditional Cuban games and music.

The Community of Natives and Iberian Descendants in Holguin has more than two thousand associates from the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Asturias, Cantabria, Catalonia and Castilla y León, with cultural spaces in events such as the Fiesta de la Cultura Iberoamericana, held each year in October. / ACN
