Javier Fernández, professor of the Department of Tourism, explained that the research is part of his doctoral thesis at a time when the leisure industry is consolidated among the most important economic lines in the Caribbean nation.
Hence, the main indicators to take into account correspond to the curricula that are currently implemented in the academy and the expectations of employers once they receive the graduate in their institutions.
He indicated that this methodology is novel even for Latin American universities because the evaluation systems applied on a daily basis are developed on the basis of commercial purposes in the search for the student's first job.
It differs absolutely in the case of Cuba, as its social system guarantees the graduate his work placement during the training period, which can extend up to three years, Fernandez said.
He noted that academic alliances are currently being consolidated with the Universities of Havana, Matanzas, Villa Clara and Ciego de Ávila, where the subject is also studied for the joint development of research, taking into account the peculiarities of each territory.
The specialty of Bachelor of Tourism, founded in 2003, has graduated four generations of professionals from the five eastern provinces and currently has 180 students enrolled, including 26 foreigners from Angola and Swaziland. / ACN
