Cuban pianist and composer Roberto Fonseca inaugurated the 41st edition of the International Jazz Plaza Festival in Holguín with the main theme "La rumba me llama", marking the first time this province hosts the event's venue.

The concert took place on Sunday in front of the Teatro Eddy Suñol and around Parque Calixto García, drawing a large local audience.

On the main stage, Fonseca performed this piece along with other tracks from his repertoire, blending jazz with Cuban roots.

He expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome in Holguín, highlighting the city's cultural diversity and describing the festival's arrival as "a dream come true" thanks to the community's efforts.

Yakelin Tapia, director of the Cultural Sector, and musician Joel Rodríguez Milord presented the pianist with an original work by master artist Jorge Hidalgo Pimentel in recognition of his visit.

He was accompanied by Felipe Cabrera on double bass, Ruly Herrera on drums, Roberto García and Lázaro Oviedo on trumpets, and Andrés Cuayo on percussion.

The evening featured performances by D'Cuba, a screening of the film "Zafiro, locura azul" at Cine Martí, and closed with the Orquesta Original de Manzanillo.

The festival, which unites generations and Cuban musical traditions, will run until February 1 in Havana, Santa Clara, Santiago de Cuba, and Holguín. (Source: ACN)
