Xi Jinping approves new round of aid from the People's Republic of China to Cuba

The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received Ambassador Hua Xin. The diplomat reported on the delivery to the island of emergency financial assistance in euros valued at $80 million and a donation of 60,000 tons of rice in emergency mode.
The President of the People's Republic of China and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping, approved a new round of aid to Cuba that includes emergency financial assistance valued at $80 million for the purchase of electrical equipment and other urgent needs of the country, and a donation of 60,000 tons of rice.
This was reported by the ambassador to Cuba of the sister Asian nation, Hua Xin, to the First Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who received him on Tuesday afternoon at the Palace of the Revolution.
The diplomat informed the Head of State that he had received instructions from his government that morning to convey this information to the Cuban side.
Hua Xin referred to the meetings held in recent days between the authorities of both countries, such as those between the member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, and China's special envoy for Latin American and Caribbean Affairs, Qiu Xiaoqi.
The head of the diplomatic mission also reviewed the meetings he had held with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga; the Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de la O Levy, and comrade Carlos Miguel Pereira, Director General of Bilateral Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, where they discussed the economic situation and the state of the national electricity system facing Cuba today due to the blockade, information that he conveyed to his government.
Hua Xin commented on the decision by the leadership of the sister nation to modify the modalities under which the 200 MW solar photovoltaic donation projects and the delivery of 5,000 solar photovoltaic panel kits for isolated homes were being developed. As a result, it has been determined, in agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, to appoint an executing company.
Upon receiving the head of the diplomatic mission, Díaz-Canel Bermúdez extended his warmest greetings at this new meeting and highlighted the intense activity that the Chinese ambassador is carrying out in our country these days, including Monday's delivery of the first part of a rice donation previously approved by the People's Republic of China.
The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic praised the state of bilateral relations and emphasized the development of Phase Four of the digital transformation program being carried out with Chinese support, everything that has been achieved in the high-definition television project, and other technologies in which progress has been made.
