Bulgarian Ambassador highlights Holguín’s exportable offers

The delegation from the Holguín and Las Tunas Chamber of Commerce presented the export portfolio of this northeastern province to the Bulgarian ambassador to Cuba, María Donska, during a visit to the territory on the occasion of the activities for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between both countries.
The meeting, chaired by Yunia Pérez, vice-governor of Holguín, was attended by businessmen from strategic sectors of the economy in the territory, including Agriculture, Mining, Light Industry, Mechanics and Food industries.
The Head of the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in the Caribbean nation highlighted the quality and variety of the products presented, which are very well accepted in the Balkan region, including marabou charcoal and honey.
She made reference to the willingness of the business sector of her country to maintain commercial links with Cuba, as well as to participate in the current economic development.
Galina Kostadinova, chief counselor of the Commercial and Economic Office of the Bulgarian embassy, showed special interest in bamboo articles, such as chairs, sun loungers and stools, manufactured by Industrias Locales of Holguín, as they are of interest for the tourism sector in that country.
Products derived from zeolite were also presented to the delegation, including hot peppers and peppers from the Wilfredo Peña Hortícola Company, as well as the new projects of the agricultural equipment and implements company Héroes del 26 de Julio, among others.
Traditionally, exports from Cuba to that European nation have been cigarettes, ethyl alcohol, sugar cane, coffee and raw tobacco; Hence, one of the intentions is to expand business ties with new proposals.
The foreign delegation showed some of its exportable offers, among them insecticides, mineral and chemical fertilizers destined for the agricultural sector.
In recent years there has been a marked interest of Bulgarian entities to establish business with the Cuban market, for which various meetings have been held between representatives of both countries, in addition to trade fairs, such as the Plovdiv International and the Havana International Fair.
The delegation received an invitation to the virtual Business Forum, which will be held by the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Cuba on December 8 and 9, 2020.
In the artistic field, Goryana Lenkova, at the head of the Office of Political, Cultural and Educational Affairs of the embassy of that country, analyzed the possibilities of exchange; in addition to participating in the May Pilgrimages and the Ibero-American Culture Festival, events of great international appeal.
