The World Festival of Youth and Students (FMJE), the world's largest youth event, will be held in Russia from February 29 to March 7, 2024, in the city of Sochi, which is part of the federal territory of Sirius.
Preparations for the event are underway in 15 participating countries: Spain, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Israel, Yemen, Iraq, Liberia, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Mexico, Panama, Honduras and the Caribbean region, with the launching of the first national preparatory committees.
Some 20 thousand delegates are expected to attend the Festival, including 10 thousand foreign citizens (9.5 thousand people aged 18-35, 500 people aged 14-17) from more than 180 countries.
Foreign affiliates play a key role in organizing the FMJE, helping to regulate and monitor the process around the world. Youth ministries, public and student organizations and associations of Russian universities contribute to the launching of the preparatory committees.
Ksenia Razuvaeva, head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) said that "this is a very big and significant event, considering the current situation and difficult conditions."
The organizations in the countries are involved in the selection of participants, the constitution of the delegations, as well as in the promotion of the Festival in the attending countries. In addition, it is reported that the structures will continue to function after the event is held and will serve as the foundation to form the international youth movement.
Regarding Cuba and its delegation, the Festival's website reports "We hope that the best representatives of Cuban youth do not miss this unique opportunity to get to know our country and strengthen the bonds of friendship with young people from all over the world.”
