The Vladimir Malakov Grand Prix, an event that makes the eastern province of Holguín the capital of dance, will be available through various digital platforms due to the physical distancing imposed on the world today by the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the theme "Memories of a festival", the edition that started on the last 23 and will run until next Saturday recalls some of the most significant moments of previous events and promotes the exchange between dance lovers through online participation of dancers, choreographers and dance critics.
The international ballet entrepreneur Paul Sequit shared in the social networks a publication in which he recalled that “what began as a contest became a dance festival, so we include debates, talks, round tables, workshops… this is a great dance festival that has the luxury of being presented in the city of Holguín and of being made from Holguín to Cuba and the world”.
Hence, other topics of great importance for the development of dance in Cuba are included on the digital event, related to the challenges of artistic teaching today and the 28 years of creation of the contemporary dance company Codanza, host and founder of the contest since its first edition in 2014.
The premiere this Friday -by this company- of Pepe Hevia's choreography “Arbol de fuego” is included among the most anticipated moments of the edition and one that all dance-loving users will be able to enjoy.
The live broadcast of the Vladimir Malakov Grand Prix is carried out by the group of experienced filmmakers Angulo Ancho, who shorten the distances by using various digital platforms, including the facebook profiles of the Provincial Directorate of Culture and the Provincial Council of Performing Arts in Holguín.
The digital event is also conducive to the official launch of the call for the 6th edition of this event to take place in this eastern Cuban city during the month of September 2021, chaired by world ballet star Vladimir Malakov, teacher Maricel Godoy, director of Codanza and Paul Sequit, international ballet entrepreneur.
