The International Red Cross made a donation aimed at strengthening health services in rural areas of the Urbano Noris municipality in Holguín, amid the country’s fuel crisis. This initiative seeks to ensure the continuity of medical care in remote communities.
The equipment delivered includes an eight-kilowatt inverter, 14 solar panels, and a 25-kilowatt battery storage system. These resources were specifically allocated to Medical Office No. 15, which serves the rural population of Gutiérrez.
Thanks to this system, the clinic will be able to use solar energy to maintain its basic services, especially in emergency situations. This will allow for more stable and reliable medical care for residents in the area.
The donation particularly benefits vulnerable groups, including older adults and families receiving social assistance. It also prevents patients from having to travel long distances to receive care, representing a significant improvement in their quality of life.
This effort is part of a broader strategy in Holguín to promote the use of renewable energy in the health sector. In the context of economic and energy limitations, these solutions aim to ensure the continuous operation of essential medical institutions. (Source: ACN)
