Holguin People Called to Participate in Exhibit of Museum Objects

The people of Holguin were called to participate in the exhibition "The families are the roots of the people", with objects, documents, books or other museum objects of more than 50 years, linked mainly to the independence deeds of the 19th century and to the Cuban revolutionary process.
The exhibition to be opened on October 17 is sponsored by the Casa Natal Museum of Calixto García, the Chinese Colony and the José Martí Cultural Society, as part of the celebrations for the National Culture Day.
Yanelis Pérez, programmer of the institution, said that this is the second edition of the event aimed at promoting the donation of valuable funds to the museums of the province, including unique pieces that remain in the hands of private collectors.
The director of the Museum and one of the promoters of this project, Yanilaysi Ortiz, noted that “this exhibition it is intended to enhance the role of the family in the formation of the great leaders of the independence of Cuba and their participation in the different stages of the history of the Homeland”.
More than fifty pieces were exhibited in the first edition of the event, thanks to which the Museum Information Center, specialized in Wars of Independence, incorporated the book Chronicles of War, autographed by its author, General José Miró Argenter.
