Holguín troubadours Fernando Cabreja and Edelis Loyola represent Cuba at the Barnasants International Songwriter Festival, the most important of the genre in Spain, which is held between January and May 2023.
The first presentation of the renowned Cacique de la Trova took place on April 23 at the Harlem Jazz Club with a special concert, coinciding with the Day of Books and Roses or Sant Jordi Day, Patron of Catalans, similar to Valentine's Day.
"It was a warm and opportune concert to embrace many people from Holguín who did not want to miss Cabreja's presentation in Barcelona, and thus reminisce the ones in the courtyard of the Casa de la Trova in the Cuban City of Parks," said Edelis Loyola, invited to the presentation together with Inti Santana and Leonardo García.
Loyola made her first presentation on April 25 in an educational facility and will perform another concert on Thursday 27, in a cultural center dedicated to the elderly.
“At the request of the festival organizers, I will do a version of La Casa de Abuela, which is a club that I have at Casa de Iberoamérica, in Holguín; but here in Barcelona the protagonists will be the grandparents”, added the singer-songwriter to ¡ahora! digital.
In its 28th edition, the Barnasants International Songwriters Festival is dedicated to Cuba, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Nueva Trova Movement and in tribute to Vicente Feliú and Pablo Milanés, who died in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
International figures such as Joan Manuel Serrat, Luis Eduardo Aute, Ismael Serrano, Alberto Cortez, Víctor Heredia, Alejandro Filio, Daniel Viglietti, among others, have participated in this event.
