More than 50 audiovisual materials compete for the Lucía awards at the International Film Festival (FIC) of Gibara -2019, including the Cuban short fiction film Rállame la zanahoria by actor and director Eduardo del Llano, which was among the films screened on Monday in the coastal city of Holguín.

The film is part of the popular series Nicanor, which does not have a conventional serial continuity from the point of view of the characters' history, since each chapter is monothematic and Independent, Eduardo del Llano explained to the Cuban News Agency.

The main characters, masterfully played by Luis Alberto García and Néstor García, represent a filmmaker in search of funding for their work and a reggaeton singer with a good professional career, despite the absurd lyrics of his songs.

Also the young actress Andrea Doimeadiós shows her abilities on stage, giving life to a graduate of acting at the Higher Institute of Art who was forced to look for money through other means alien to the chosen profession.

Eduardo del Llano described Doimeadiós as a great artist who provides the space with a special charisma, in addition of having a comic feature, which shows in each presentation.

The story, whose main success is the appropriate script with refined humor that reflects current reality, suggests the world of culture as the battlefield of artists.

The program also includes the screening of the Argentinean documentary film El camino de Santiago, by director Tristán Bauer and the Canadian Havana from On High, by Pedro Ruiz.

Until next Saturday the coastal town of Gibara, located about 30 kilometers from the city of Holguín, becomes a true venue of arts where giant screens are located everywhere for the screening of classic and contemporary films.
