Cooperation between Cuba and Mexico will expand its reach in Holguín with the launch of the second phase of the Sembrando Vida project, an initiative that will benefit 1,500 producers in the municipalities of Calixto García, Báguano, and Cacocum.
The program is sponsored by the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation and aims to strengthen local production, encourage families to remain in their communities, and contribute to improving their living conditions.
Alejandra del Moral Vela, executive director of the agency, announced that participants will be supported with quality seeds, machinery, supplies, and technology. She explained that the initiative will contribute to strengthening Cuba's food sovereignty in a context marked by the tightening of the U.S. blockade.
Speaking on behalf of rural women, Nubia Santiesteban Díaz highlighted the contributions of female farmers and expressed gratitude for the support that will allow for increased food production and strengthen the local economies.
The ceremony was attended by Rodolfo Rodríguez Expósito, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture; Miguel Díaz Reynoso, Mexican Ambassador to Cuba; and Joel Queipo Ruiz, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguín, along with government and agricultural sector officials from the province.
