The forty-third Holguín Culture Week began here with a tribute to the 274th anniversary of Holguín's designation as a City and Government District.
This celebration, which runs until January 18, honors the cultural identity of the municipality and brings together artists, creators, and the public in a series of activities highlighting the legacy and vitality of local culture.
At the Manuel Dositeo Aguilera Municipal House of Culture, tributes were paid to three prominent cultural figures: historian Mayra San Miguel Aguilar, writer José Rafael Rojas Bez, and cultural promoter Ricardo Ronda Chacón, to whom this year’s edition is dedicated.
During the opening ceremony, local authorities emphasized the importance of the event as a reflection of what the people of Holguín were, are, and will be.
The opening ceremony was directed by Carlos López Asencio and featured performances by various musical talents, including the quartets Feeling Voices and Bella Voce, soloists Gladis María Bonet and Yamila Rodríguez, and the group Crazy Rapper. Several key political and governmental representatives from the province and municipality attended, underscoring the institutional value of the event.

Before the ceremony, a colorful parade opened the festivities, featuring groups such as the Concert Band, José Martí Art Instructors Brigade, and Ronda de los Sueños Company.
The program also celebrates the 40th anniversaries of the City Awards and Ediciones Holguín, as well as the 50th anniversary of the Cuban News Agency, reaffirming the city’s cultural diversity and vitality.
