The 41st International Jazz Plaza Festival will be held for the first time in the province of Holguín from January 25 to February 1.
This major event will feature the participation of both national and international artists and groups, establishing itself as a key date within the Cuban cultural scene and extending its reach beyond Havana and Santiago de Cuba, its traditional venues.
This edition will bring together talents from over 19 countries. In Holguín, confirmed international guests include Canadian singer Sophia Smith, Mexican percussionist Víctor Monterubio, and the Latin American Trio, among other renowned artists. They will join prominent Cuban jazz musicians, promoting a rich and diverse cultural Exchange.

The Holguín program will include renowned Cuban musicians such as Nachito Herrera and Roberto Fonseca. Fonseca will lead the festival’s opening concert, to be held in Calixto García Park, which will be renamed “Hol Jazz Plaza” during the event, becoming the city’s main festival hub.
Local talent will also play a central role. Iconic groups like the Avilés Orchestra and the Holguín Symphony Orchestra will participate alongside outstanding soloists and art school students. Their involvement highlights the festival’s commitment to nurturing artistic creation in the province and recognizing the strength of its young performers.
Events will take place across multiple venues, including the Piano Bar, Casa de Iberoamérica, Café Trovando, the Provincial Center for Visual Arts, the lobby of the Martí Cinema, and the Plaza de la Marqueta. This setup will engage a wide audience and energize Holguín’s cultural life throughout the week.
The festival’s Organizing Committee president, Víctor Rodríguez, emphasized Holguín’s readiness to host an event of this scale, highlighting its strong jazz tradition.
The press conference also featured local cultural and musical authorities, who announced the premiere of the music video La rumba me llama, by Roberto Fonseca. With this new venue, the Jazz Plaza Festival reaffirms its mission to expand the horizons of jazz in Cuba, connecting regions and generations through a universal musical language.
