Holguín to host 31st Ibero-American Culture Festival

The city of Holguín will host the 31st edition of the Ibero-American Culture Festival from October 24 to 30, 2025, organized by the Casa de Iberoamérica and the Provincial Directorate of Culture.
The event was announced this Thursday at a press conference held at the institution's headquarters and will be dedicated to culture and sustainable development. More than 100 national and 25 international guests from 12 countries will participate, sharing knowledge and artistic expressions in various venues throughout the city.
The inauguration will take place on the 24th with a concert by the Holguín Symphony Orchestra along with the Steel Band del Cobre from Santiago de Cuba, but the celebrations will begin on the 23rd with the commemoration of the 32nd anniversary of the Casa de Iberoamérica.
The agenda includes theoretical events such as the 20th Ibero-American Congress of Thought, which will address the albinism in Cuba, with the presence of representatives from the UN and social movements from Argentina. It will also pay tribute to Rigoberto Rodríguez Entenza, founder of the congress, and historian Eduardo Torres Cuevas. The José Manuel Guarch National Research Award will also be presented.
The Local Development Forum will be held from the 25th to the 27th, with the participation of Alejandro Torres Gómez de Cádiz, CITMA's territorial delegate in Holguín.
The Ibero-American Literary Colloquium, the Ibero-American Audiovisual Colloquium, the Virtual Visual Arts Exhibition, the Iberoarte Fair, the Paper Artists' Meeting, dedicated to Electa Arenal, and the presentation of the Caja de Luz project, a mini-library of covers, by artist Andrés Zaldívar, are also among the activities planned.
International participation will be highlighted by the presence of Colombian poet and playwright Diego Despreciado, who will give lectures on theater. Also in attendance will be Namibian students majoring in Civil Engineering and Medical Sciences, as well as representatives from Brazil, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.
This year, the Ibero-American Cultural Festival aims to reaffirm its inclusive nature and commitment to cultural exchange, reflection, and the promotion of art in its most diverse forms.
The closing ceremony will be held on the 30th at the Eddy Suñol Theater with a presentation of artistic education, which will play a leading role this year´s edition.
