Center for Visual Arts in Holguín announces upcoming events

ArtesP1The Provincial Center for Visual Arts announces three important events in the second half of 2025: the 31st Visual Arts Salon, the Third Meeting of Paper Artists, and the National Salon "Codema 40th Anniversary."

Yuricel Moreno Zaldívar, head of the Art Center, announced at a press conference the 31st edition of the Visual Arts Salon, which will take place from September 9 to 14, with the aim to provide a space for the promotion of artistic creation.

The current edition of the salon is open to all artists residing in the country. The winning participant will have the opportunity to present an exhibition project at the Visual Arts Development Center in Havana.

The Casa de Iberoamérica the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC), the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), among other institutions, will grant collateral prizes.

Printmaker Cristhian Escalona, who won the last year's competition, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to exhibit his art at the Galiano Gallery in the Cuban capital.

With the goal of sharing information on artisanal papermaking, the 3rd Meeting of Paper Artists will be held in the framework of the 31st edition of the Ibero-American Culture Festival, sheduled from October 24 to 30 this year.

According to Manuel Arias Silveira, director of the Cuadernos Papiro Publishing House, the event will promote three-dimensional experimentation through work with natural fibers. This initiative aims to pay tribute to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Mexican artist Electa Arenal Huerta, who left a significant legacy in sculpture and muralism.

The National Salon "Codema 40th Anniversary" was alsos announced. This year, a mega sculpture exhibition will be held in December, featuring artists from across the country, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Advisory Council for the Development of Monumental and Environmental Sculpture (CODEMA).
