The photographic exhibition "Luces de un Diario", which comprises 40 pictures inspired by José Martí's Campaign Diary, was opened on Wednesday at the Casa de la Prensa in Holguín as part of the activities in this province for the 60th anniversary of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC).
Authored by photojournalists Pedrito Guzmán, Dany Hernández and Juan Pablo Carreras, the exhibition intends to take up the prose of Martí's diary in which he recorded his arrival in Haiti, his stay in the Dominican Republic, his arrival in Cuba by Cajobabo and his work and stay here until hours before his fall in combat in Dos Ríos, on May 19, 1895.
Germán Veloz Placencia, president of UPEC in Holguín, described the exhibit as a moving passion born of respect for the work of José Martí and the duty to promote his humanist thought.
“Today, in front of the passages captured, there is no doubt of the professionalism of the three photographers who present a lot of human faces and places that bring the public closer to what happened a long time ago and recall that Martí will always be among us with his anxieties and shocking dreams of redemption”, said Veloz.
This exhibition, opened to the public for the third time in Holguín, deserves praise because, as well as being a reflection of the professional maturity of its authors, it calls for the duty of daily honoring those who open paths of freedom, he concluded.
