The Book Fair returns to Holguín

The Book Fair to take place in Holguín from May 26 to 29 after three years without being held, will make available to the public some 390 literary novelties and more than 300,000 copies with the participation of foreign exhibitors from countries such as Mexico, Panama and Peru.
In its 30th edition, the event will be dedicated to the intellectuals Eugenio Marron and Manuel García Verdecia as well as to the university book, the 25th anniversary of Ediciones La Luz, publishing house of the Hermanos Saíz Association, and the 60th anniversary of the local newspaper ¡ahora!
The Great Bookstore returns to the Plaza de la Marqueta, 11 tents will be arranged around the Calixto García Park, including the one dedicated to the Décima. The children's pavilion will be located at El callejón de Los Milagros, while La Periquera Museum will host the proposals of Ediciones Holguín.
Sarahí Ferrer, director of the Provincial Center for Books and Literature, highlighted the creation of the cultural space "The kingdom of this world" which from Las Tres Lucías café aims to bring together all the narrators staying in those days in the City of Parks.
According to Ferrer, the Alex Urquiola Library will host the interactive proposals of the digital pavilion, while the Holguín Polygraphic Institute will join the stands arranged in the Great Bookstore.
The local publishing houses Ediciones Holguín and La Luz, both with traditional spaces in the event, will develop various panels dedicated to the art of publishing, translation and Mexico as the guest of honor.
Among other activities, book presentations include the collection of poems "Ramas de Álamo", by Manuel García Verdecia and "Romeo y Julieta en Manhattan", by Eugenio Marron.
At Casa de la Prensa, Conciencia Ediciones will address the university book with the presentation of the text "The politics in José Martí" by José Cuellar, rector of the José Martí Latin American University in Mexico; conferences that will be dedicated especially to the work of the renowned researcher and professor Roberto Rodríguez Córdova.
