Holguín: Romerías de Mayo in digital platforms and the media

Romerías de Mayo, tthe World Festival of Artistic Youth which takes place every year in Holguín from May 2 to 8, began on Sunday night with a concert prior to the event broadcasted by the national TV channel Cubavisión.
With the participation of more than 20 guest countries, this XVIII edition is based on the experiences of 2020 event, when the spread of COVID-19 forced the suspension of this mega-event considered one of the most important of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in the country, which distinguishes the cultural life of Holguín, Lilién Aguilera, president of the organization in the province, told ACN.
The Organizing Committee redesigned from the digital platforms and the media, the main spaces and events of the meeting which is dedicated to the 60 years of Words to Intellectuals and the six decades of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and the 35 anniversary of the AHS.
The Congress of Thought Memoria Nuestra, considered the backbone of this cultural event, will feature the inaugural conference "Words to intellectuals in historical perspective, meanings and challenges," by historian Eduardo Torres Cueva, broadcast by Streaming Cuba, she added.
The agenda includes online debates through WhatsApp and the Telegram channel of the event, with guests such as Mildred de la Torre, National History Award, Arnoldo Mora, former Minister of Culture of Costa Rica; Elmo Hernández, president of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba and the Advisory Council of the Minister of Culture; Fernando Buen Abad, Mexican philosopher, among other researchers.
It also includes the granting of the Memoria Nuestra Prize of Research and Sociocultural Project with the participation of delegates from the entire country.
Babel, a space for the visual arts, will pay tribute to Lesbia Vent Dumois, National Prize for Plastic Arts, and will have twelve exhibitions in different provinces and the Haute couture expo with members of the AHS from all over the country.
On the other hand, Cámara Azul event will look at “production from a gender perspective” and will honor the renowned director Humberto Solás (1941-2008) on his 80th anniversary, and will recognize the work of the Radio and its role in the dissemination of the work of the young artistic avant-garde.
These online Romerías will feature the bands Toques del Río, Raulito Prieto and his group, Síntesis and Gerardo and Tobías Alfonso.
The Rockmerías and Electroromerías will have national and foreign guests, while jazz music stands out for the presence of Roberto Fonseca, Ruy López-Nussa, Orlando Valle and César López, as well as a master class by American professor Victor Goines.
